A new trailer for Gotham Knights has just dropped, showcasing an official footage of Batgirl absolutely dropping enemies. The video showcases the character’s origins and combats, featuring the character’s acrobatic skills to fight off numerous enemies, grapnel device, Batarangs, and more.

“Gotham has called,” says Batgirl in the trailer, “and I have answered.” Announced during DC FanDome in 2020, Gotham Knights features four characters: Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin, each with their own unique abilities.

“Gotham City still has a Bat, and she’s going to make sure everyone knows it,” reads the description. “Protecting people runs in her veins and will always be a part of who she is, no matter her identity. The people of Gotham need a symbol to believe in, and there’s no one better than Batgirl to be that symbol.”

The character’s origin has also been tweaked slightly following a backlash to the depiction of disabilities, with WB Montréal receiving critics that a disabled person overcoming their disability through determination and losing a loved one was offensive and can be misleading. Resulting in the studio tweaking her origin to revolve around surgery, pain management, and physical therapy. Therefore, adding Batgirl can be seen wearing a back brace in-game.

Gotham Knights was originally due for a 2021 release before being delayed to 2022. Releasing on October 25, the game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, keeping it exclusive to next-gen consoles and PC.

Elsewhere, Naughty Dog has released a 10-minute gameplay trailer for the PlayStation 5 remake of The Last of Us.
