German watch brand Glashütte Original has developed its first-ever annual calendar in the PanoMaticCalendar.

Two versions of the watch are presented; one in 18K red gold with a traditionally inclined silvery opaline dial and the other, a limited edition platinum watch with black open dial, revealing elements of the movement beneath.

The 42mm watch displays hours and minutes via an off-centre dial and seconds via an overlapping small seconds. The date is indicated via an oversized ‘Panorama’ two digit window at the four o’clock position and the month is highlighted underneath 12 numerals running from three o’clock to six o’clock. Both indications are adjusted using the crown. A moon phase sits at the two o’clock.

The annual calendar complication keeps track of the date mechanically, requiring a single correction each year on March 1st, here courtesy of two entirely new in-house automatic movements, the Calibre 92-09 found in the rose gold watch and the Calibre 92-10 found in the partially skeletonized platinum watch.

While bearing the traditional three-quarter plate, blued screws and swan-neck regulator of watches made in the Saxony town of Glashütte (no gold chatons though), the movement carries a number of modern watchmaking traits including a silicon balance spring and 100-hour power reserve.

The PanoMaticCalendar is available now, via Glashütte Original, with the rose gold piece priced Euro 27,600 (approximately $28,760 USD) and the platinum piece – which is limited to 150 pieces – priced Euro 40,400 (approximately $42,100 USD).
