Camper's Genderless Kobarah Heeled Sandal Now Comes in Sizes for All

Will the eco-friendly heel become fashion’s new “it” shoe?

Camper is hot on the heels of creating the fashion crowd’s next “it” shoe, as it has just announced that its Kobarah heeled sandal has dropped in a wider range of sizes, making the pair genderless.

Much like pearl jewelry, that Miu Miu show that saw male models wearing the unisex garments, and nail varnish, the footwear industry is moving towards a genderless era. While more is still to be done — such as making sneaker sizing more inclusive — the industry has seen high-end brands such as Rick Owens pushing the boundaries, and heights, of “men’s heels,” and now Camper is bringing this energy to the masses with its expanded Kobarah offering.

Aside from breaking the gender norm, Camper is also breaking the footwear industry’s unsustainable habits. For example, the Kobarah is designed to be a fully circular product that can be assembled and worn for years until it’s no longer good, and then disassembled, recycled, and turned into a new product. Camper achieves this thanks to a healthy mix of materials and a clever design process, which sees the heeled sandal being made from a single piece of molded EVA that minimizes waste and energy consumption. Furthermore, because it’s just one piece, less energy is required when dismantling the shoe.

Elsewhere, the Kobarah features an “XL EXTRALIGHT® Organix™” outsole that’s made with “30% bio-based sugarcane, a renewable resource that reduces dependence on virgin plastics, resulting to a lighter environmental impact,” as per the brand’s press release.

As for the design of the shoe, you’ll find it served in either patent white or patent orange with more colorways coming in May. It’s a playful yet awkwardly avant-garde design, nodding to the Y2K tastes that continue to infiltrate our current roster of trends, and is comprised of tubular lines that sculpt supportive areas for the foot and heel.

Take a look at the Camper Kobarah above, and expect a wider range of sizes to appear online imminently. The pair is priced at £115 GBP, or $155 USD if you’re based in the States.
