GCDS Brings Signature Fuchsia Shades to the Mizuno Wave Prophecy 8
Paying homage to the “purity of shape and color.”

GCDS and Mizuno have teamed up for a special take on the Wave Prophecy 8. Paying homage to the “purity of shape and color,” the design takes bold Wave tech and amplifies it even further with clever details, custom meshes and more.
Uppers are dressed in two cream tones — lighter on the base, darker on the overlays — and feature a cage-like structure on the midfoot plus a signature Mizuno Runbird logo. The forefoot and toebox serve up a signature embossed mesh with a bespoke GCDS print, while laces join in on the action with a special knotted build and a fuchsia/green color scheme and tongues supply a multi-color “GCDS Wear” logo.
Fuchsia is GCDS’ signature color, so it also takes up residence on the branded heel clip and the midsole’s full-foot Wave cushioning setup. On the former, it features a high-gloss metallic material. On the latter, it opts for a slightly more simple flat shade. Select pairs also have individually-numbered detailing just below the throat. To complete the offering, the shoes are packaged in a high-gloss metallic purple box stamped with a cheerful cherry logo. Apart from the shoes themselves, the box is loaded with a special dustbag and tissue paper plus a sheet of stickers.
“I got my very first pair of Mizuno sneakers while I was visiting Japan whilst studying abroad in China,” says GCDS creative director Giuliano Calza. “It was love at first sight and since then I have always been keen to learn about Japanese culture and fashion. I decided to give [the shoe] a metallic appeal because it reminded me of Japan’s aesthetic: sweet, fun and futuristic [just like] the technology of the Wave Prophecy 8.”
The GCDS x Mizuno Wave Prophecy 8 is available on the GCDS webstore now, and will see a global release come April 30. The MSRP is set at €265 EUR (approximately $317 USD).
