Former Apple Design Chief Jony Ive wrote a letter published in The Wall Street Journal Magazine on Monday, honoring his close friend and collaborator Steve Jobs 10 years after his death.

“I think about Steve every day,” he wrote.

On Jobs’ death, Ive says his memories of that day are “scattered and random,” though his reflections on the former Apple CEO over the course of their friendship remain clear.

“We worked together for nearly 15 years. We had lunch together most days and spent our afternoons in the sanctuary of the design studio. Those were some of the happiest, most creative and joyful times of my life.”

He continued: “I loved how he saw the world. The way he thought was profoundly beautiful.”

Ive referred to Jobs as “without doubt the most inquisitive human I have ever met,” and described his “insatiable curiosity” toward life and accumulating knowledge.

“Our curiosity united us,” he explained. “It formed the basis of our joyful and productive collaboration. I think it also tempered our fear of doing something terrifyingly new.”

Ive also spoke about iterating on bold ideas with Jobs, saying that the tech mogul had “such a deep understanding and reverence for the creative process.”

“He truly believed that by making something useful, empowering and beautiful, we express our love for humanity,” Ive wrote.

Ive now works with Jobs’ wife, Laurene Powell Jobs, at their creative collective LoveFrom. He added that his understanding of the late Apple co-founder continues to “grow and evolve.”

“When [Laurene's] brilliant and inquisitive children ask me about their dad I just cannot help myself. I can talk happily for hours describing the remarkable man I loved so deeply.”

In other news, an Apple II manual signed by Steve Jobs sold in August for nearly $80,000 USD.
