Palace Unveils Whitney Houston Capsule for Charity
Celebrating the late songstress’ induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Accompanying its Winter 2020 Week 7 Drop coming later this week, Palace has come together with the estate of Whitney Houston for a capsule celebrating the late songstress’ induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The special range features a varsity jacket made by Ebbets, the heritage label that created the iconic style. Coming in a vintage Houston Rockets red/yellow color scheme, each jacket is constructed of 100 percent wool with a rayon lining, wool knit shoulder inserts, ribbed knit cuffs, collar and waistband, and snap front closure. The outerwear piece also features chenille varsity text patches that spell “WHITNEY HOUSTON” on the front and back, patches on the sleeves and embroidery of Houston’s signature.
Accompanying items include a crewneck sweater style in three colorways that continues the varsity design found on the jacket and a graphic T-shirt emblazoned with a classic image of Houston wearing a Palace branded tanktop. Rounding up the range is a leather strap back cap to match the varsity jacket.
Speaking on the collaboration, Pat Houston, Whitney Houston’s long-time manager and sister-in-law said, We are very excited to have collaborated with British streetwear brand Palace Skateboards for such a special cause, a unique capsule collection celebrating Whitney’s legacy and supporting her charitable Foundation…No doubt she would of loved to have worn it herself!”
While Palace adds, “Whitney Houston is one of the all-time greats: we are so stoked and so honored to continue our charitable commitments this year with a line that celebrates such an incredible pop star and human being…”
Palace’s Winter 2020 Week 7 Drop is set for both in-store and online releases starting November 13, 11 a.m. EDT on the brand’s official webstore, and in Japan on November 14, 11 a.m. JST on the Palace Japan webstore, and on the official “Palace_Skateboards” WeChat store November 14, 11 a.m. CST.
