143 & MAAPS Drop Romantic Incense Set at Union LA
Featuring soft scents and a heart-shaped incense holder.
Los Angeles-based R&B party 143 and premium incense brand MAAPS have teamed up to create a romantic incense set called “By Your Side” to commemorate its six year anniversary. The all-natural incense features a scent blend of sandalwood, cedar, and French lavender and is handmade locally in LA.
The incense collaboration didn’t come out of thin air for MAAPS, as founder Johan Lam has a strong connection with R&B music. “My wife and I grew up on the music that the 143 movement is built on, so we jumped at the chance to synergize and embody that spirit,” explains Lam. “We named the scent ‘By Your Side’ – a nod to the Sade track that we first danced to on our wedding night.”

Each set comes with a tote bag, a bronze-colored broken heart incense holder, and two boxes of “By Your Side” incense. The incense holder can either be kept together as a full heart, broken in two or even separated similar to the BFF necklaces popular in the ’90s, as each section is able to hold incense. “We created this collection with the idea of sharing with your lover, friend, or crush,” confirms 143 co-owners Cody Debacker and SOSUPERSAM.
The “By Your Side” incense set will be available exclusively in-store and online at Union Los Angeles beginning October 3, with a fitting limited-edition number of of only 143 sets available.
