'Stranger Things' Releases Extended New Coke Ad
Playing on Dustin and Steve’s friendship.
Netflix and Coca-Cola have just released an extended version of their Stranger Things season 3 New Coke ad, which gives fans a closer look at Steve and Dustin’s growing friendship.
As the ad kicks off, Steve can be seen purchasing a Coke and popcorn for his movie date. Turns out his date is Dustin, who nags him about being late and thwarts Steve’s attempts to flirt with the girl sitting next to him. They then bicker about finding the right way to eat popcorn as the movie starts and slowly turns upside down. Check out the ad above, a remake of the original New Coke ad from 1985, which was directed by the Duffer Brothers.
New Coke originally launched in 1985, (fitting as season 3 takes place during this year), but didn’t sit well with customers and was pulled from shelves only 79 days later.
Approximately 500,000 cans of New Coke will be made available to the public where interested customers can purchase the item via cokestore.com/1985. Limited edition bottles featuring Stranger Things designs will also be up for grabs.
Stranger Things season 3 returns to Netflix on July 4.
