Watch the Second Season 1 Teaser for Justin Lin-Directed 'Warrior'
Bruce Lee’s never-produced idea brought to life.
Cinemax has just released teaser number two for the upcoming Justin Lin-directed Warrior original series. Premiering later this month, the 10-episode action-crime drama circles around the first set of Chinese Tong Wars in San Francisco’s Chinatown, and one martial artist’s story as he enters the American Old West as a tong’s hatchet man.
The original idea for this series was initially conceived by none other than Bruce Lee, but unfortunately was never brought to full-light as he intended. “I’ve always admired Bruce Lee for his trailblazing efforts opening doors for Asians in entertainment and beyond,” explains Justin Lin. “So I was intrigued when Danielle [executive producer] told me about the urban legend of his never-produced idea for a TV show and suggested we bring it to life. Then, when Shannon [Bruce Lee's Daughter] shared with us her father’s writings – rich with Lee’s unique philosophies on life, and through a point of view rarely depicted on screen – Danielle and I knew that Perfect Storm had to make it. Partnering with Cinemax has led to a wonderful collaboration with Jonathan Tropper, who has created a fantastic series inspired by Lee’s writings. We are all honored to continue what he started.”
