Donald Glover Talks Transitioning from Acting to Music
“Like my mom was kind of just like… ‘You have a good job, like why would you do that?”

Donald Glover Jr., to some better known as Childish Gambino, paid a visit at Conan last night in order to promote his upcoming film The Martian. He shared his experience of transitioning from acting into rapping.
“I didn’t think it was a big deal, I really didn’t. Like my mom was kind of just like… ‘You have a good job, like why would you do that? And also she wanted to meet Alec Baldwin,” Glover adds. “So she was like, ‘No! Why are you leaving?’”
While he admits that the decision initially seemed like a bad idea on paper, it turned out rather well for him. See his entire conversation below.
