Backwater: A 360° Cinematic Virtual Reality Experience from MINI

MINI becomes one of the first car brands to implement virtual-storytelling as a new and exciting avenue to experience its latest innovations. The revered automaker has produced two 360-degree short films, allowing viewers to roam freely in virtual space via their smartphone or MINI VR Viewer for a cinematic adventure spanning over five minutes each. Each film was shot in Barcelona using a custom stereo rig with nine RED Dragon cameras offering a combined resolution of 14k, while a custom seven-GoPro camera rig was developed specially for scenes inside the car. In this film, “Backwater” follows an uncover agent looking to intercept some precious cargo.
