Al Pacino Will Join Tarantino's Charles Manson Movie
Adding to the already impressive roster.
Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has already nailed down a prominent list of actors including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Burt Reynolds, Dakota Fanning, Damien Lewis and Timothy Olyphant. Now, Variety has confirmed that Al Pacino will be joining the star-studded cast as well.
Pacino is set to play Marvin Shwarz, the agent of DiCaprio’s character in the movie. While the film is receiving attention due to its ties to the infamous Manson murders, Tarantino who is directing, writing and producing has insisted that the emphasis of the plot is the setting. “It’s not Charles Manson, it’s 1969,” Tarantino cited in an interview. Sony Pictures has been describing it as “a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood.” DiCaprio is playing the lead as actor Rick Dalton, while Pitt stars as his stunt double, Cliff Booth. Robbie will play actress Sharon Tate, who was neighbors with Dalton. This will be the first time that the legendary Godfather actor will star in one of Tarantino’s films. Pacino recently starred as former football coach Joe Paterno in the HBO film, Paterno.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 2019.
