Nike Celebrates LGBTQ Community With Four New "BETRUE" Sneakers
Highlighted with lavender and pink triangles.
Last year Nike celebrated the LGBTQ community with the release of a BETRUE rainbow Flyknit Racer and Air VaporMax. This year, the Swoosh highlights the community on the VaporMax Plus, Air Max 270, Zoom Fly SP and Epic React Flyknit.
The new BETRUE pack prominently features a lavender color palette along with pink triangles. Lavender is a symbolic reference for the LGBTQ community as a natural color that blends gender-linked light blue and light pink. Nike explains that the pink triangle was “originally used to identify LGBTQ individuals during World War II and was reclaimed in the ’70s by pro-gay activists and was later adopted by the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP) in their memorable ‘80-era ‘Silence=Death’ campaign.”
You can take a look for yourself at all four silhouettes above and purchase the Nike BETRUE 2018 sneaker collection on June 6 at nike.com and select retailers.
