Gareth Bale Becomes Wales' All-Time Record Goalscorer
The man-bun is on fire.
Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has just become the top goal scorer for his country Wales. The unprecedented accomplishment occurred during last night’s match which saw The Dragons defeat China 6-0; three of those goals scored by Bale himself.
Bale’s hat-trick took his count to 29 international goals in 69 appearances, one more than Liverpool legend Ian Rush who reached 28 in 66 games. This also marked the first hat-trick for Wales since 2004 when Robert Earnshaw scored three times against Scotland.
When BBC Sports asked about his illustrious career, Bale stated:
“I suppose when I was a little boy I never dreamed of being a record-breaker for Wales. It is a massive honour. I was not thinking about it, but now it has come it’s an incredible honour and one of the best things I’ve achieved in my career. On a personal note it’s great to break the record, but I could not have done it without my team-mates.”
Last year we headed over to Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium for an exclusive video interview with Gareth Bale. Be sure to check it out.
