Maison Margiela's "Repaired New Sneaker" Fuses the Replica with a Chuck Taylor
Best of both worlds?

Maison Margiela continues to play with the idea of fusion and deconstruction in its latest footwear offering. The “Repaired New Sneaker” features an outdoor version of the German military trainer-inspired Replica — seen in the padded nylon construction — but “inserts” the trainer inside a classic canvas sneaker. The canvas portions, which are reminiscent to the Converse Chuck Taylor, extend from the rubber-capped toe, and onto the middle of the tongue.
Each pair gives off the impression that the exterior canvas uppers have been haphazardly cut down to the rubber midsole, so that enough room could be made for the Replica trainer. Key details include uppers made from leather, suede, nylon and canvas material, a heel pick-stitch, a Maison Margiela “Numbers” tongue tag, asymmetrical construction, unique multi-lacing arrangement, and a white rubber outsole.
Those interested can find these over at NUBIAN for a price of ¥69,000 JPY (approximately $620 USD.
