“When I first started rapping, I did my first show with Boosie. That was like three years ago, and we been cool ever since,” Cookie Money tells us, breaking down his relationship with Boosie. “We never even really talk about music — I come to Baton Rouge, he comes to Oakland…he invited me to his grandma’s house in Baton Rouge, flew me out, showed me around his hometown and shit just off the love. When he come out here, he sleeps at my grandma’s house — he doesn’t even get a hotel.”
Along with supporting his next full-length body of work, Cookie Money is also using his latest video and future releases as vehicles to promote his charitable efforts and community involvement. “I gave away 300 backpacks last month. Ever since I started rapping, I been doing this
every year. It feels good to even be the person to do something like this, and there’s a whole lot of unity going on. There’s no way in the world you can just keep taking money from this [hip-hop] and not give back. It’s only right that you help the people who help you out.” Cookie Money makes sure to go out of his way to make the kids who come to his events “feel special,” and even spends a great deal of time and money to customize some of the items he gives away.
