What 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Would Have Looked Like in the '70s
Watch this recreated VHS trailer for some serious nostalgia.
Plot-wise, last year’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story film storyline precedes that of 1977’s Episode IV: A New Hope, the first film of the American epic space film franchise by George Lucas. Though the 2016 installment of the Star Wars anthology series received mixed reviews for its awkward CGI, the film was effective in transporting its audience to the original time period of the Star Wars films during the 1970s, adopting traditional aesthetics such as the opening crawl.
However, those still looking for more ’70s nostalgia will be glad to watch this fan-made Star Wars VHS videotape trailer by Damien Kazan. The video’s dramatic voiceover, grainy lo-fi footage and mock-up VHS case really bring us back to the good old days of the original film trilogy.
