As well as creating the iconic pieces in every COMME des GARÇONS store, brand founder Rei Kawakubo also designs much of the furniture. The designer’s work has been relatively untouched, but according to Galerie A1043 in Paris, Kawakubo produced more than 40 pieces of furniture between 1983 and 1993.

The exhibition is set to feature 15 pieces of furniture designed by Kawakubo, including the “Steel Angle Chair n°1,” the ”Table n°3” and a leather-topped stool with a long pole instead of a back rest. The gallery described the works as “part of the complete work” as well as adding that, for Kawakubo, “everything is connected, the district in which the shop is located, the clothes, the layout and the furniture of course.”

The exhibition is set to run at A1043 from October 10 until December 22. For more from COMME des GARÇONS, take a look at the brand’s latest collaborations, including a series of avant-garde Nike Air Force 1s and a joint Converse Chuck Taylor All Star.
