CHENLONHENKU Puts an Anonymous Spin on Traditional Chinese Garb for Spring/Summer 2018

London-based menswear label CHENLONHENKU showed its Spring/Summer 2018 collection during Vancouver Fashion Week. The label’s name is supposed to reference “Jackie Chan is so cool” in Chinese, which is properly pinyin spelled as “ChengLongHenKu.” The latest collection sees contemporary streetwear reinterpretations of traditional Chinese garments, where oversized streetwear silhouettes nod to the past with Chinese calligraphy prints, mandarin collars, silk patterns and other Asian motifs. Coach jackets and wide set trousers boast more modern renditions via synthetic materials, bold check prints and graphic prints. The garments are rounded out by old-school Chinese Tai Chi slip-on shoes and rather unnerving masks of Chinese faces.
