Japanese menswear label Yoshio Kubo showed its Fall/Winter 2017 collection at Milan men’s fashion week. The Giorgio Armani-backed designer is known for complex patterns, novel prints and technical textiles. This season, the collection draws inspiration from Western rodeo sports and “bareback riding,” demonstrated by the significant use of Paisley prints, fringe details, embroidery and horse graphics. The predominantly black color palette transitions into dark neutrals — such as navy, olive green and grey — and finally crescendos into a glaring red for the finale. Silhouettes are curated with ample layering and mixing of contrasting textures such as glossy jackets, fur coats and heavy knits, whereas a footwear collaboration with PUMA rounds out the amplified outfits.
