nonnative Releases Striking 2016 Fall/Winter Visual, 'Back to Everyday People'
Drawing visual aesthetics from classic samurai films.
To further bolster the hype of Takayuki Fujii’s 2016-17 fall/winter collection for nonnative, the Japanese stalwart recently unveiled a striking new clip called “Back to Everyday People.” The nearly three-minute short film draws visual aesthetics from classic samurai movies such as Seven Samurai and Yojimbo—except filtered through a more contemporary lens. The short presumably depicts eight Onna-bugeisha (female martial artists) who attempt to master the “8 Gate Strategy” to annihilate their unnamed enemies. Moreover, the visual spotlights key wardrobe essentials from the collection including tartan topcoats and vibrant flannels.
