Kawasaki's Robotics Department Has Developed an Automated Sushi Chef
It ain’t Jiro though.
In case you weren’t happy with Japanese sushi chefs and their historic art, Kawasaki has recently revealed its latest development in robotics which happens to aid in fine-food serving. To showcase its competency and accuracy with robotic arms, the Japanese company held an exhibition for duAro–its robot system–accomplishing tasks, such as assembling sushi in real time. The arms compiled the pre-made sushi rice with its dedicated topping, while going as far as adding wasabi and perfectly serving it on a chef’s table. Is this the end of Sukiyabashi Jiro and the three-starred Michelin pride of Japan? Of course not, but it may be a step into the robotic future we’re all dreading.
