soe's 2016 Fall/Winter Collection Puts an Updated Spin on Punk Style
Unexpected layers define the look of the collection.
Japanese menswear brand soe just released its 2016 fall/winter looks. Having tapped other influences such as the American West and illustrator Norman Rockwell in previous collections, we now get a more modern interpretation of Punk style for its next release — the focus is on the fashions that emerged in Britain during the ’80s and ’90s. The color palette is quite wide as it encompasses a lot of darker tones, but we do get to see some complementary hues such as blues, orange and pink. In fact there is a coat that’s rendered in green that’s even more pronounced because of the sheen shell construction.
Upon closer study however, layering is the name of the game here as we see bright rollnecks under sweatshirts, leather jackets over chunky knits and even coach jackets underneath wool coats. As a whole, through the garments’ loose construction and shapes, punk is definitely well-represented here.
