A "Jameson First Shot" Winner Debuts His Film About Getting Engaged for Free Food
Based on true feelings.
For those in the film industry, getting your work seen by the right people is perhaps one of the biggest challenges. Over the last four years, Jameson Whiskey held its annual “First Shot” short film contest to give undiscovered writers and directors the chance to professionally produce their ideas in Hollywood. The project has seen support from big names like Kevin Spacey, as well as Maggie Gyllenhaal who stars in the three winners’ pieces this year. Tonight, Jason Perini of Sydney, Australia debuts his short film titled “The Empress.” Upon reading the script, Maggie Gyllenhaal described it as “a hot mess.” The plot has been based on stories Perini has heard about people who get engaged with the intention of enjoying free food. Check out the short film above, and the other two winners pieces here.
