Apple CEO Tim Cook Appointed Director of Nike's Board as Founder Phil Knight Steps Down
Tim Cook and Mark Parker will now be leading the Swoosh.
Today Nike founder Phil Knight officially retired from the Swoosh, stepping down from his longtime role as chairman.
Now, the sportswear conglomerate looks to another mega corporation head, namely none other than Apple CEO, Tim Cook, who has been vested with the responsibility of leading Nike’s board of members as independent director. Having been a member of Nike’s board since 2005, Cook is already quite familiar with the ins and outs of the company, and his new leadership role is intended to help ease Nike CEO Mark Parker as he takes the reigns of president, CEO and chairman of the company.
Hats off to Knight, Cook and Parker as they embark in their new endeavors.
