maharishi Brings Back DPM: British Bonsai Camo For 2016 Spring/Summer
There’s more to it than you think.
Known for its military-inspired designs, maharishi’s latest Spring/Summer 2016 collection color palette takes inspiration from devotional uniforms of religious orders around the world. Shades of purple and golden brown pull from color schemes seen in Roman Catholic traditions, matched with bright orange from the robes of Buddhist monks. The symbolic use of hi-vis orange is also shared with the U.S. Army’s reversible MA1 flight jacket.
maharishi’s collection also introduces DPM: British Bonsai. This disruptive pattern combines patterns from the UK military with that of maharishi’s house pattern, Bonsai Forest. For this print, sihouettes of Bonsai trees grow from nimbus clouds, creating a unique pattern to remind us that camouflage has its roots in nature. Despite being heavily involved with military themes, maharishi is always quick to reinforce that its use of camouflage prints isn’t to conceal, but rather, offer an alternative expression to nature via art.
