Jay Leno Gives a History Lesson on the 1931 Indian Scout
The ride of choice for Wall of Death stuntmen.
Jay Leno’s motor-head hobby is legendary, and the latest installment of the former late night host’s Jay Leno’s Garage series focuses on the 1931 Indian 101 Scout. The video features Leno maintaining that the vintage vehicle is one of America’s finest motorcycles, citing its superior handling and its innovative construction that allowed it to push further where other, more sophisticated cycles would usually break down. He also notes that the Scout was the bike of choice for Wall Of Death stunt-riders — think Ryan Gosling in The Place Beyond The Pines — due to its relatively low price and maneuverability. Later on, Leno takes the bike out for a spin, managing its manual set-up, which includes a foot clutch, hand shift and a spark advance.
