Ben-Hur, first released in 1959, was a monumental achievement of cinema, astounding masses with the vast scale of its lavish production and netting 11 Academy Awards that year. While it remains a banner for cinematic achievement that remains as captivating today as when it was first shown nearly six decades ago, Hollywood’s executives have decided that the story is ripe for another run on the market, and have duly updated the classic with the wonders of modern CGI.
