In celebration of the next Chinese New Year, the year of the rooster, Vans has tapped Shanghai-based designer Kim Kiroic for a series of six honorary silhouettes. The overall theme is based on “classic punk” which we see especially in the familiar checkerboard platforms. The rest of the shoes nod to the life cycle of the rooster, mimicking the nude colors of the unhatched egg, the soft fuzz of a baby chick, and even the tail of a fully mature bird in the custom fringe on the white slip-ons. Check out the photos above for a closer look, and keep an eye out as the collection is expected to see a limited release December 16, and a broader release come December 20.
