50 Cent Tells Dana White That Floyd Mayweather Is "Dead Serious" About Fighting Conor McGregor
“I don’t know, man. Call Floyd and see what’s going on.”
Although Dana White shot down the idea of a Floyd Mayweather/Conor McGregor fight ever happening earlier multiple times this year, the UFC president recently sat down for Fox Sports Live to promote UFC 206 and told an interesting story when asked if the two would ever fight. Dana revealed that at a dinner in New York during the UFC 205 weekend he bumped into 50 Cent. During the encounter, the rapper claimed that Floyd was “dead serious” about fighting Conor McGregor after White publicly stated the boxer wasn’t interested in fighting. Although this does not necessarily mean the fight will happen, it again lights a fire in fight fans that would love to see the two multi-division champions go at it. Catch the story above and as always stay tuned for more details as they become available.
I was at dinner in New York for [UFC] 205, and we bumped into each other at dinner. So we were hanging out, we were talking for awhile, and then I went over and sat back at my table and I ate. And then when we were leaving, he said to me, ‘When’s your boy gonna fight Floyd?’ And I said, ‘My boy? Who are you talking about, Conor?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ I said, ‘Floyd don’t want to fight Conor.’ And he goes, ‘He does, Dana. He’s dead serious about it.’ And I said, ‘I don’t know, man. Call Floyd and see what’s going on.’ So that’s how the whole thing got started up again.
