Stone Island teams up with Philadelphia’s UBIQ for one of the brand’s first retail partnerships stateside. With Stone Island: A Presentation of Garment Dyed Expertise, the installation explores the almost 35 years of Stone Island’s mission to experiment with color, fiber, textiles, and production methods in order to make its technically advanced clothes. “A culture of research, experimentation, function, and use are the matrixes that have always defined Stone Island: The sportswear brand established in 1982, designed to become a symbol of extreme research on fibers and textiles, applied to an innovative design.” This exhibition features 48 unique color palettes sourced from over 60,000 recipes of dyes, and each color block illustrates the brand’s mastery of fabric dying. The installation is open between October 1-31, and is housed in UBIQ Walnut’s second floor gallery space.
