Discover the Crime-Ridden World of Ivory Trafficking in 'The Ivory Game'
Executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Next month, Netflix plans to release a new documentary on Africa and China’s illegal trade of elephant ivory. Titled The Ivory Game, the film comes to us courtesy of production outfits Terra Mater Film Studios (Red Bull) and Vulcan Productions (Paul G. Allen), with additional support coming from Appian Way (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Malaika Pictures. Richard Ladkani and Kief Davidson served as the project’s pair of directors, while Leonardo DiCaprio is listed as the executive producer. The docu-film takes place over a 16-month period spent in the trenches of the trade, where various activists and operatives worked undercover to present a thorough breakdown of the criminal forces at play in Chinese and African ivory trafficking. Particularly, The Ivory Game examines the possibility of the African elephant’s extinction as a result of black market interference. The film has been featured at the Telluride Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival, and will arrive on Netflix on November 4.
