WKND Skateboards Presents "American WKND" Promo
The California skate brand twists suburban boredom with East Coast grit in its must-see promo video.
Of the independent board renaissance currently ongoing, WKND has been relatively quiet, putting out refreshingly un-serious skate skits and small clips over the past few months. Reporting live from the monotony of suburbia – a motif often found in 80s and 90s punk music – the burgeoning West Coast brand has just debuted a new promo video featuring its full team: “American WKND.”Accordingly, the video hits you the same way as hearing hardcore for the first time; it’s a sneak attack of boiling suburban boredom fish-packed into 12 minutes of pure street gold.
Featuring the likes of Johan Stuckey, Christian Maalouf and Raymond Molinar alongside others, videographer Grant Yansura presents a masterful survey of California back alleys and street lines, presenting a contemporary approach to skating informed by late-night doodles, road trips and 90’s girl crushes. Check out the video above and head to WKND’s site to peruse their board offerings for summer.
