Jil Sander’s latest showing was an exploration of textures, if nothing else. Reinterpreting traditional menswear pieces in thoroughly modern materials, Rodolfo Paglialunga opened the show with technical parachute nylon overcoats and blazers, before making a jump to more austere, sharper cuts with lined suiting fabric. These, however, featured subtle De Stijl-influenced patterning paired with unconventional cuts and shoulder pads to riff on conventional men’s silhouettes. Denim adorned with Oriental patterns made an appearance, as did pieces utilizing glossy and matte PVC material. However, many pieces were highly wearable, with highlights including a light olive parachute fabric bomber, as well as a knee-length overcoat made from a lustrous silk. Enjoy the slideshow above.
