Japanese architects Kengo Kuma and Associates has completed a colossal panel-clad office block in Tokyo, entitled Toshima Ward Office. The panels, or ‘leaves’ as they are being called, offer shade to internal communal spaces, convert solar energy into electricity to power the scheme, and vegetated green panels introduce a natural element to the structure, which has been inspired by and conceived as a gigantic tree. The complex will house an office building, living accommodation, and a vertical garden and covers 94,681.87 sqm.
