While filming technology has come a long way since E.T., WIRED takes us behind the scenes to learn about how The Hulk was created to be so realistic. The Hulk (played by Mark Ruffalo) and the film’s VFX team (headed by Ben Snow) paved the way for innovative motion capture, with technology allowing Ruffalo to act in real time with the other actors that was immediately translated onto a digital Hulk. Facial animation was captured using mesh set atop facial muscles, for utmost accuracy and expressiveness.
