Following a highly publicized lawsuit against Condé Nast regarding the labor violations, former interns of the publishing giant will have until June 16 to collect their lawsuit payout. The class-action lawsuit resulted in a $5.9 million USD settlement last April, after 7,500 former interns claimed that the company failed to pay them at least minimum wage and overtime. As a result of the lawsuit, the publisher – who pens titles such as Vogue, GQ, Details, Glamour, among many more – has suspended its intern program entirely. Interns who worked for the company between June 13, 2007 to December 29, 2014 are eligible to receive anywhere between $700 USD to $1,900 USD, depending on the type of internship they held. However, interns looking to quickly receive their claim may have to wait, as the settlement “may be reduced on a pro-rata basis depending on the number of class and collective members who return claim forms,” meaning, the more people who submit claims, the lesser everyone might get. Or, you could opt out entirely — which may allow you to sue Condé Nast for labor violations all over again.
