Watch D'Angelo's 'Saturday Night Live' Performance

D’Angelo continues his comeback to the music scene with a powerful performance during last night’s taping of Saturday Night Live. The gig also marked his first live performance since he released his surprise album, Black Messiah, last month. Assisted by his backing band, The Vanguard, he offered live renditions of the album cuts, “Really Love” and “The Charade.” The crooner and his band made references to the recent killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner during the latter song by wearing awareness t-shirts and a chalk outline of a body on the stage floor. D’Angelo will stay in NYC for his gig at the Apollo Theater on February 7, which will be followed by ‘The Second Coming’ tour in Europe. See all live dates and the SNL clips below.
