Surfer Kelly Slater Creates the Perfect Wave
Surfing just changed forever.
In the wake of the Surf Snowdonia waterpark — home to the world’s longest man-made wave — comes the creation of 11-time World Surf League Champion, Kelly Slater. As the culmination of a decade-long project to create the most perfect surf wave, the LA-based Kelly Slater Wave Company recently tested out its wave machine with the man taking the honor of riding its first wave, which certainly looked mathematically perfect on the surface. From the ecstasy seen on Slater’s face, this project promises to add another dimension to surfing, giving serious surfers the option to surf all year round in all weather conditions, practicing on a consistent wave without the crowds that are the bane of the sport. With the great potential of this technology, who knows? Maybe even places like Kansas will start yielding world-class surfers.
