Jim Olson's Stunning Treetop Residence Serves as a Bridge Between Nature and Humans
55 years in the making.
Renowned architect Jim Olson recently took NOWNESS on a tour through his stunning treetop residence in the peaceful area of Longbranch, Washington. Best known for his nature binding residential designs, this contemporary 14-foot by 14-foot structure sits on a hillside surrounded by nothing but trees and native plant species, allowing persons to fully immerse themselves in nature. Olson first started working on this project back when he was an 18 year old architecture student with the help of $500 USD from his father, but over time it became a full-blown living space where he and his family could escape the daily life of the city to sit back and enjoy the tranquil views and sounds of the lake and the woods. Decked out with beautiful furniture, floor to ceiling glazing and a patio, check out this stunning space above in this 3 and a half minute short by Stephen McGeHee.
