If you’re a native of New York City, it’s safe to assume that you’re pretty familiar with how a manhole cover looks but the true curiosity lies in how those manhole covers are actually created. Produced in India, molten metal is poured into molds for its shape while the words NEW YORK CITY SEWER – MADE IN INDIA are pressed within it for its signature tag and set by the workers using their bare feet.
