Toshiba Is Selling Its Camera Sensor Business to Sony
What will this mean for the future of Sony cameras?

Toshiba has not yet recovered from its accounting scandal, as it’s been reported that the Japanese tech giant is selling its camera sensor business to Sony — to the tune of ¥20 billion JPY (approximately $165 million USD). This is good news to Sony, who just broke out its camera sensor department as a separate business and is looking to enhance its image with increased accountability and focus. The extra capacity from acquiring Toshiba’s camera sensor business could give Sony an extra edge, who already provides its sensors to the likes of Apple and Samsung. However, no official word has been announced yet but insiders say that an official confirmation can happen as early as next week.
