Earlier this week, John Galliano took to the runway in London to reveal his first collection as Margiela’s creative director and subsequently a new vision for the iconic fashion house. While all eyes were on the threads in question, many overlooked the name change on the show notes, dropping “Martin” from the title. According to the NY Times, a company spokesman said Tuesday that the change “reflects the evolution of the house.” The Parisian brand opted to do so rather quietly, much different from the Saint Laurent transition a few years ago – one that received a great deal of backlash from its fans and the style community.
