Leave it to Lanvin to establish one of the biggest menswear trends this season — the Prince of Wales check or Glen Plaid, if you must. It’s been on high rotation already, but its inclusion in Lanvin’s fall/winter show solidifies its grasp on menswear. The plaid was put on everything, from double-breasted jackets to layered suits, and provided a more somber note that we’ve been seeing throughout the shows this season. Which affirms another trend — that menswear is taking a more sober route, with sophisticated tailoring and functionality fusing for urban looks. However, the dull color of palette doesn’t forfeit any style, with an androgynous allure to the entire show. High-waisted trousers, long jackets with large lapels clad on waify male models made for a well-rounded runway with trends bound to take hold.
