Shaping up to be one of the best-looking sci-fi films of recent memory is the forthcoming Automata from director Gabe Ibáñez. Co-written by Ibáñez alongside Igor Legarreta and Javier Sánchez Donate, the dark, futuristic thriller stars Antonio Banderas and depicts a world in which robots are quickly gaining consciousness–a development that proves perilous when a group of them become sentient and kidnap a human. Shot in Bulgaria with a cast that includes Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Melanie Griffith, Dylan McDermott, Robert Forster and Tim McInnerny, Automata is due to hit theaters October 10.
