Since initially gracing our pages, Tokyo-based contemporary label kielo; has explored the Art Deco and Abstract movements in painting, thus setting itself apart with its well-informed, inspired collections. Continuing its progressing through the artistic canon, the brand opted to explore post-WWII American design, the Pop Art movement, and hippie culture for Fall/Winter 2014. These ideas are reflected in the minimalist, draping garments, many of which are tinged with intentionally androgynous detailing to reflect the then-burgeoning interest in sexuality and rebellion. Elsewhere, the rise of mass advertising is reflected in a notable cigarette patch motif across the men’s and women’s pieces. Enjoy this look through the mature new release from kielo;, available at retailers such as Trunk Show in the coming months.
