Taylor McFerrin featuring Robert Glasper & Thundercat - Already There

When like-minded, sound-bending virtuosos such as Taylor McFerrin, Robert Glasper and Thundercat unite, music transcends beyond the norm. For the trio’s new collaboration “Already There,” the asymmetrical jazz/funk/soul/R&B paradigms each operates under are fused together and shuttled off into astral projection. LA’s Brainfeeder camp and its associates have some of the most progressive approaches to the sounds of  jazz, funk and soul in recent memory, and “Already There” is a textbook example of when their extraterrestrial style is simply flawless. Strings, chords, drumsticks and keys collide as if the trio have their emotions and otherworldly abilities connected to a Hadron Collider that works with sounds as opposed to particles and physics. Even if you aren’t too well-versed when it comes to anything jazz-related, this is essential listening.
