Earlier this year, celebrations at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival took a turn for the worst when a 28-year old security guard at the event was trampled due to a large ambush of gate crashers and poor safety measures. According to the mayor, Thomas Regalado, the safety breach resulted in serious discussions over a permanent block of the festival from the city, and it has now been reported that Miami will host Ultra Music Festival yet again in 2015.
Several city officials claim that the festival shows Miami in a negative light, but a vote cast today shows that four out of five officials believe Ultra Music Festival offers more positives than negatives for the city. Although the festival’s will return to Miami in 2015, attendees can expect increased security and safety measures for next year’s festivities as there will be an increase in police presence and additional drug and health stations.
