Pen & Paper: RUN

Giacomo Bufarini aka RUN is a London-based Italian artist, who made a name for himself in the ’90s by using abandoned walls in Bologna and Florence as his canvas. RUN’s large-scale artworks are detail-oriented and reveals a deep level of complexity through vivid renderings of interlocking hands and faces in both bright, striking colors and monochromatic hues. After moving to London in 2007, the artist continues to maintain a balance of work in both the streets and the studio, building his portfolio through an array of mediums and techniques: from etching, printing, drawing to mono-typing on wood, canvas and paper.
Inspired by travels and anthropology, RUN’s work is often upheld by different cultural iconography. Drawing up a fantastical world filled with surreal characters, RUN took over every inch of Howard Griffin Gallery in his latest undertaking. Titled “Parabola di G.,” the show is an autobiographical story told by the artist through a series of pen and ink drawings, as well as an immersive paper installation. Have a browse through his work featured in our latest episode of Pen & Paper and check out “Parabola di G.” at Howard Griffin Gallery, on display from now until December 24.
