Grotesk & Case Studyo Reveal Their Final “6ft 6in” Lamp, "The Boston"

First released back in 2012, the relationship between Brooklyn-based animator Grotesk and Belgian design firm Case Studyo has grown, perhaps even literally, over the past few years. Here we find the two parties again teaming up for their clever “6ft 6in” lamp, with this final rendition paying homage to hardwood showdowns of the past. This 30-inch edition, dubbed “The Boston,” features a white, black and green color scheme across the sneakers, all of which are hand-painted by Grotesk. The long ‘chicken legs’ effect for which Grotesk is so known for plays a prominent role here, for one paying homage to vintage basketball uniforms, and also elevating the lamp to a proper lighting point. Of particular note, this limited run of just 23 lamps thereby concludes the “6ft 6in” project between the two parties – and are sure to be collectible in time.
